As a gay boy, raised in a traditional Catholic Italian family, in the little town of Salerno, Southern Italy, I was born controversial.
My parents wanted a ‘straight’ football-loving son. I was gentle and sensitive and loved to dance. At school I was bullied daily, and was given more negative labels, than I care to remember.
You will have your own story. It may be different to mine, but one thing I’m sure of - there will probably be pain at some level. If like me, you’ve learned to suppress who you really are, to seek acceptance from others, it’s time for change.
